Great Value Broadband From O2 Broadband

Broadband, TV, and Telephone Bundles from Sky and Virgin

We Compare Virgin Media and Sky, helping you find the best broadband, phone, and TV offers

How do you fancy cutting the bill for watching TV and surfing the internet - and getting a better service too by opting for one of a new breed of bundled packages?

These so-called "triple deals", with just one bill for telephone, television and broadband services, are often far cheaper and less bother than dealing with individual firms. About 40% of UK households already have a bundled service, according to regulator Ofcom. That figure is expected to rise rapidly as more attractive deals and offers become available.

The study found a typical family classified as two parents and two children were paying about £25 a month for a basket of services that included a landline, basic pay-TV and access to the internet. The good news is that they are far better off in the UK because households in France paid £27.22 for the same arrangement, German families were charged £39.77 and in the US it cost £69.54.

Rob Barnes, head of broadband and mobiles at money supermarket claims that households yet to switch could be wasting nearly £40 every month on standalone products.

"Another benefit is you receive just one bill each month and if something goes wrong then there is only one provider to ring"

However you don't need to search the market for the best deals for most people as we have them listed here:

Virgin Media Bundle Package Deals

Benefits of TV, Phone, Internet bundles

Opting for a "triple deal" phone, broadband, and TV offer means

  • One bill for all your products. No need to worry about paying numerous providers or setting up a string of direct debits
  • One point of contact. There is just one number to ring if a problem arises with any of the services
  • Better value for money. Bundles are often very competitively priced, especially for those already using one of the firm's services
  • Cheaper monthly bills. Buying home phone and broadband separately can cost double the price of a bundle package.

The two major players are Sky and Virgin Media. Before you bundle all three services you should decide exactly which one of the three means the most to you and select a bundle where this is the strongest thing on offer. So where do you begin?.

Step one: Decide what you need
You should be clear about what you need from the bundle package. Analyse your use of the products;
Is watching movies and sport your main interest?
Do you download hours of music from the internet?
Are you an online games addict?
Do you want the ability to make free telephone calls every evening?

Once you know how much you really use the internet you can ensure you are not paying for high download speeds that you may not need.

For most purposes such as checking your email, a little web surfing, and a modest amount of downloading even a 2MB package will be perfectly adequate

Step two: Select an offer
Now you have a better understanding of what your needs are, in particular what you like to watch on TV and how much you use the internet you are armed to select an offer such as one of those we have listed above.

Telly addicts may sway towards Sky due to the fact that they provide a broader entertainment package that includes Sky One. There are now two main types of broadband. One uses copper phone wire; one uses fibre optics. One was invented in the 1870s for phone calls; one was designed for the Internet. Fibre optic cables are the advantage of Virgin Media broadband so if you are looking for a fast reliable broadband service you may be more attracted towards Virgin Media. Sports fans are more likely to find Sky the best option, however for general entertainment Virgin Media may be more suitable as it offers hundreds of TV series and films via their on-demand service.

Step three: Final check
Will you still have to pay phone line rental?, some bundle providers offer this in the package price (Virgin Media for example) but other's don't and you may have to pay a further £12 a month to BT.

You should also clarify factors such as the free calls included, in most cases they only apply to landlines beginning with 01, 02 or 03 and not to mobiles or premium rate numbers.

Bundled services have not only made it far simpler for consumers to switch suppliers for a better deal but competition has resulted in a better service at better prices.
